Yes, in most cases. Anthem Insurance is the most prevalent in the Tippecanoe County area. I am in the PPO for Anthem. There are other policies that will reimburse for my services. One of the services I provide is to check with your insurance company about your particular policy.
There are three major types, and several others. The three major types reimbursable by insurance are:
- Clinical Social Workers have a Master's degree in Social Work and specialize in Clinical approaches to mental health treatment. Their training includes individual, group, couples and family therapy with different approaches in each area. Clinical Social Workers provide the most psychotherapy and counseling services in this country.
- Clinical Psychologists have a doctorate in psychology. They have training in psychological testing, assessments, psychotherapy and conducting original research.
- Psychiatrists are medical doctors who complete a three year residency in psychiatry and they are the only mental health providers who can write prescriptions for medication in Indiana. They usually do not provide psychotherapy and counseling services, but work in collaboration with psychologists and clinical social workers.
